Japanese club Shonan Bellmare have terminated the contract of Nigerian midfielder Mikel Agu.
Shonan Bellmare announced Mikel’s departure on their official website.
The 30-year-old joined the Japanese J1 club last summer, signing a two-year contract.
The player was, however, plagued by persistent injuries.
Mikel made just one appearance for the club.
The talented midfielder spent most of his career in Portugal, where he played for Porto, Vitoria Setubal, and Vitoria Guimaraes.
He has made seven appearances for Nigeria.
