Damini Ogulu, a Nigerian musician best known by his stage name Burna Boy, has won the 2023 Black Entertainment Awards’ Best International Act honour.
The ‘African Giant’ singer won the most coveted category of the BET Awards by defeating competitors like Ayra Starr, Central Cee, and Stormzy, among others.
Burna Boy’s mother, Bose Ogulu, accepted the award on his behalf even though he was present when he was named the winner.
Bunaboy has had an amazing last couple of years.
His 2022 album ‘Love, Damini’ was a worldwide success, and he already took home a BET Award in the same category in 2019 and 2021.
Other nominees in the category included Aya Nakamura, Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Stormzy, Tiakola and Uncle Waffles.
